Tips for Creating a Web Design Brief

By October 28, 2022 No Comments

You want to create a new website for your online business. You have contacted a great web designer and about to meet him for further discussions. But what exactly do you discuss when you visit a web designer for your new web design?

An appropriate briefing is crucial to how the end result will be. The best designers will always ask a lot of questions and you too should be ready with your own queries and ideas. The right brief will help your designer create just the website you visualized.

Your website isn’t designed for you; it’s for your customers. Correct briefing at the very beginning ensures the right customers are identified and casual footfalls translate to actual business.

Provide Information about You

This is the first thing your designer would want to know. Understanding your company background, its mission and vision, your style of operation, a brief history with stress on key changes at different times, your catering zone, annual turnover; all these should be integral to the brief you provide.

Clarify your Aim

The next part of a good brief for web design is clarifying what you want to achieve through your website. Maybe you want your sales to increase twice by the yearend, maybe you are about to launch a new section or want to make your site more engaging.

Try to be as specific as possible about what you want your website to do for your business.

Identify your Target Customers

Your web designer will, of course, want to know who your customers are. They need to understand your customer profile in order to create a website that will cater to their specific needs.

Information about your target customers should include their geographical location vis-a-vis your catering zone. You should also have an idea about the profile of your existing customers and what your ideal customer base should be.

Give as many details as possible about what you want your customers to do and how well the current website is serving that purpose.

Provide Good Content

It would help if your brief provides the basic content to be used on your website. The right content is essential for creating the right web design that will suit your purpose.

Content need not be only text. You can provide photographs of important events, videos of new product launch, illustrations of your products, real-life pictures of people using your service and so on.
